Hi, friends, and welcome! Today, I've partnered with one of my best friends, Jeremy, who's also a huge coffee snob and addict, to bring you two new coffee recommendations! Through our years of friendship, Jeremy and I were both coworkers at a local coffee shop together, too. Recently, for his birthday, I gifted him a coffee subscription from Trade! It took me so long to decide what to gift him, but when I considered the gift of coffee, I knew he wouldn't love anything more. We live about 3 hours drive from each other, and even though we haven't seen each other in months, we will still come up with fun stuff to do together (such as this post)!
Onyx’s “Eclipse”
Here is Jeremy's review of a coffee from a roaster called Onyx, located in Arkansas!
"Hands down my favorite of the three that I picked from Trade! I prepared the grounds by grinding the beans for a French Press and measuring out about 17 grams of grounds for one cup (though, this was definitely eye-balled). This one is definitely creamer-friendly if that’s your thing, though I’d make it a bit stronger if you plan on doing that. The rich and smooth texture of Onyx’s Eclipse blend really sent this one over the top, though the flavor and aftertaste of vanilla and dark chocolate were definitely worth noting at the end."
Sparrows' "All Seasons Blend"
My most recent bag of coffee to come from Trade is this medium roast from Sparrow's Coffee in Grand Rapids, Michigan!
As usual, I brew my coffee in my 32 oz. French Press with about 5.5 tablespoons of this coffee. The marshmallow flavor note is huge in this roast, and as someone with a sweet tooth, this is a delicious coffee that I highly recommend. I've been pairing it with a toasted marshmallow mocha creamer from Coffee Mate, but I also enjoy the sweetness of this blend by itself! To me, the most interesting aspect of this one is the flavor note of lavender. I didn't expect to find the flavor as well as I did, but I like that it's an afterthought and doesn't overpower the flavor profile of this coffee.
