Hi, friends, and welcome! At this point, it's been a bit over a month since I've been to work, and the cabin fever is real and rough, I have to admit. One thing that gets me through being stuck at home with so much free time is doing my shopping online. I want to share ideas with you of affordable items you can find; most of these come from Amazon, Walmart, and other bigger names, but I'm also including smaller, less known brands and stores as well. I'll be sharing items for entertainment, relaxation, and some fun activities, too! These items could be perfect for you, but they also make great gifts for the people you love.
Essential Oils. I love to fill my home with relaxing and refreshing scents all the time. A diffuser is easily the best purchase for filling a room with fragrance quickly that will last. I've found oils at stores like Gabe's before, and I know they are available at many big retailers. I recently ordered mine via a friend from dōTERRA.
Make Your TV Smarter. When I moved into my own place and got a new TV, I purchased a Roku SE for only $18 and it was easily the best decision for a cheaper substitution of cable. Roku still offers a variety of devices depending on how you want to upgrade your TV, and while they don't offer my SE version anymore, I ordered the Express for the kids' TV for only $30. Upon comparing the new Express to my SE, they are very similar, and I recommend both. I've found several kid-friendly, safe apps to add to their device, so feel free to leave me a comment if you want more info on setting up a Roku device for a kids' TV!
Brighten Up a Room With a Colorful Rug. I recently found this lovely rug on Walmart's website and was especially drawn to the pattern. I chose the shade turquoise and the size 9'X6'. It has made my living room pop with color, and I live in an apartment with plain, off-white walls, so I love the addition it makes.
Order New Bath Goodies. If there's one thing I can't stop splurging on from time to time, it's body care and bathtub/shower products. While purchasing their items individually can be a bit steep, I highly recommend gift sets from Lush. In my recent order, I found this adorable set for $30 with a large bath bomb, bubble bar, and lip scrub. Hot, luxurious baths are my favorite, especially after long days.
Find Inspiration to Get Back in the Kitchen. I absolutely love to cook, and I'm constantly searching for my next favorite meal and recipe to share because I love to try new things. When grocery shopping at a store in my town like Walmart or Kroger, I tend to get overwhelmed with choices, even after preparing lists and scoping out discounts and coupons/weekly deals. What I've discovered that I love doing is ordering recipes and groceries online through companies that build and customize you a profile that's perfect for your eating habits, cooking styles, favorite foods, and dietary needs. The two that I currently use are HungryRoot and EveryPlate. My first HungryRoot box is to arrive in a week, so be on the lookout for a review on it! So far I'd say between Chris and I we've made about six meals from EveryPlate, and we've never been disappointed with a recipe yet. I typically only order a box from them every three weeks, and I love the flexibility of being able to skip weeks as I need to. I order the plan with 3 meals/week for 2 servings, but what I love is that if Chris's kids are over here, the meals are easily stretchable for two extra little mouths with some adjusting and additions to the recipes.
These are a few of my recent finds that have made life a little bit easier around here for myself and my loved ones. Share with me the ways you've been treating yourself! I'd love to hear how you're keeping happy and practicing self-love.
