Hey, friends, and welcome! Hope you're all having a great Saturday so far! It's a lovely day here in our small town, but it's been just a little too chilly to have kids outside to run and play this morning. My boyfriend Chris and I have his sons, Gregory and Arthur, here at our house on the weekends, and they love to play outside in the yard. Cold days always make them sad since we don't want to risk them getting sick, and it gets tough keeping them occupied indoors for long periods of time. Today, I stumbled across something for them that caught my eye.
Gregory is six years old, and he especially loves to play video games. Lately, he has been asking me if he can watch the show Peppa Pig. While I can't admit that the show is in my repertoire of knowledge, I've heard both good and bad reviews about it. The issue I ran into quickly when trying to locate where he could watch, though, was that I was going to have to purchase another streaming service to watch it on. When I moved into my first "own place" last year, I made the financial decision to purchase internet and then add online streaming services to watch TV shows and movies instead of ordering cable. With Hulu, Disney+, my mom's Netflix, Chris's Mom's Prime Video, and even the occasional YouTube channel binge (Blippi is our favorite at the moment), I thought we had access to anything and everything they'd wanna watch. But, I discovered I was wrong when I realized that Nickelodeon-owned shows and movies aren't available on these platforms. Then, today, I found Noggin!
Noggin is an online streaming service where you can watch Nick Jr. shows and films. They are currently offering a 60-day free trial, so I signed up to give it a go. I was so pleasantly surprised by how many other shows are on there, too! I'm talking both the original and new Blues Clues, Dora the Explorer, Paw Patrol, and so much more. What's also convenient about Noggin is that I was able to set it up via my Roku account, and having a Roku gives me the ability to access Noggin on other devices, AND we can use more than one device at a time! I love this option, because there are times where I'm able to set up one TV with Blues Clues, for example, and my laptop can be streaming Paw Patrol. This way, the kids can enjoy their own shows individually, and it's a life saver when they won't agree on something to sit down and watch. At the end of the trial, it's about the same price to keep the subscription as Disney+ is, so we'll decide later if it's worth keeping for us or not. But, for now, we are so excited and grateful to enjoy this stuff complimentary. Arthur, who’s four, is currently getting his Paw Patrol time in for the day.
Do you have Noggin? If so, I'd love to hear any recommendations you've got! Let me know if you decide to try the free trial, too.
As always, thank you for reading, and I hope this helps you and your kiddos survive cabin fever a little easier.
